Guru Nanak College is under the aegis of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Shri Amritsar Sahib, an apex body of the Sikhs formed under the Act of Parliament in 1925. Recognizing the importance of Music in our life, the department of Music was established in 2004 .Previously, it had only Music as Hobby Classes in the campus. Now The Department offers Master of Arts with specialization in Indian Music vocal and Optional subject in Bachelor of Arts.The students holding the degree of this department have been placed in various prestigious institutions and perform their jobs very well. The department conducts seminars, Workshops and lectures from time to time. And currently it is adding beauty and aesthetics to the college curriculum.

M.A. Music Vocal or Master of Arts in Music Vocal is a postgraduate Music course. It is two years program and the course includes a comprehensive and thorough study and practice of Music as a discipline at an advanced level. M.A. (Music Vocal) course involves the study of music theory, music interpretation and history of music, besides imparting strong musical (vocal & instrumental) skills in a student. After completing the course candidates can find many job options in cultural and heritage places.
